Lumbricus terrestris
The common earth worm, often called night crawler in The U.S is indigenous to Europe but is now prevalent In North America and asia. It has a segmented body and is usually a few inches long. Earhworms and annelids in general have a more complex internal structure than the primitive nematodas and platyhelminthes. Earth worms have a nervous system composed of a ganglia and 2 nerve cords with ganglia(like the brain) and branching off nerves in each segment. They also have combinations of phot receptoes, chemoreceptors, tactile organs, some even have well developed eyes with lenses. |
